THREADS OF HERITAGE – A KEBAYA SHOWCASE!

In July, the Peranakan Association Australia (Melbourne chapter) will be putting on an exhibit of Peranakan Attire! This will comprise a range of sarong, kebaya, baju panjang, baju cina, and other accessories, antiques, accoutrements, etc, all related to the attire and lifestyles of the Peranakan communities of Southeast Asia!

If you live in Australia, or in Melbourne, or are travelling to Melbourne in July, buy a ticket and come and see what’s on display! Please hurry, tickets are limited, and are selling out fast! We only have 150 spaces (legal limit of the venue) available.

So come along if you can, and check everything out. Learn about the history and culture of the Peranakan community, its historical costumes and traditional attire, the accessories that went with them, how they’re made, how they’re worn, and the stuff that the Peranakan used on a regular basis.

I’ll be there all day, manning one of the exhibits, and helping out with the planning, preparations and participation. Hope to see you there!
